We’re thrilled to have taken possession at our new home, 55 Taylor Street, and we’re making improvements in preparation for a series of grand opening concerts in February or March of 2013. We’re very fortunate to have the support of SF Shines (a program of the City of SF) and the Northern California Community Loan Fund to help us execute changes to the space. It’s already pretty nice inside, but we want to make this a great multi-use facility for musicians. After our remodeling, we’ll have:
- The main hall for daytime work and evening/weekend performance and rehearsal, with room to seat up to 100
- A 350+ sq. ft. soundproof studio, perfect for rehearsal and workshops, available for use during the day or night (until 10 PM)
- Three enclosed and secure private office spaces, each about 150 square feet
- Ample space for meetings, file and other storage, and casual chats with your fellow musicians
We will also be outfitting the space with a high-quality lighting and sound package and, hopefully soon, an upright piano for the studio and a 6-foot grand for the main hall.
In the meantime we’re building up our team of volunteer staff, interns, Board of Directors, and an Artistic Committee that will curate and promote public performances at the Center.
That said, we are here and doing this work for ALL of you, the listeners, makers, and critics of new, experimental, creative, innovative, intermedia, fringe, and so many other beautiful, strange, non-commercial sound and performance works. Please consider bringing your energy and work to the Center as a member, co-worker, renter, listener, or donor.
