Series: Chris Brown
My curatorship will focus on live electronic music, especially on ensembles that can include both electronic and acoustic instruments. My series of workshops and concerts will culminate in a mini-festival of live electronic music featuring active electronic music composer/performers from the West Coast. Acts will include electronic improvisation and network music ensembles, live-coding sessions, and interactive acoustic/electronic music and sound installations.
Eclectic Improvisations
A quintet of these well-known Bay Area improvisors converge for the first time as a quintet at Center for New Music. The evening will open with duos and trios of the players in different combinations, culminating in a long form quintet improvisation on the second set. [More]
Electronic Improvisations: Chris Brown, James Fei, and Soo Yeon Lyuh
Chris Brown performs live electronics in duets with Soo Yeon Lyuh, amplified haegum (a Korean bowed two-string instrument); and James Fei, analog electronics. This concert is the first in a new series at C4NM of music for live electronic ensembles that Brown will curate during the next two years. A week-long mini-festival is next, scheduled for June 18-23. A state-of-the-art sound system will be generously provided by Meyer Sound. [More]
