Both recepients of fellowship prizes from the 2014 Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt, Weston Olencki and Katherine Young will team up in a duo concert to present the second performance of Puddles and Crumbs, an expansive, tripartite work for trombone and analog processing developed in close collaboration over the previous year. The concert will also feature Young in her role as performer and improviser, with content from her collaborative duo with San Diego-based violist, Amy Cimini. The evening will close with a trio improvisation from all three performers, utilizing novel performance techniques, electronics, physical objects, and new approaches to form and texture using the unconventional trio of trombone, bassoon, and viola.
