A set of computer graphics programs using the Processing language create and control synthesizers and patterns in the SuperCollider audio environment. Also, analog improvisation.
Blue Boxes – random-sized 2D boxes are created in “mid-air” and slowly fall to “earth” creating surprising sonic patterns.
In the Beginning – points and lines are drawn in rotational patterns from keys played on an electronic wind instrument. Melodies and rhythmic patterns eventually form from intersections of drawn lines. Intersection points animate and crawl away.
Below the Surface – a Wii remote controller is used to create animated, abstract creatures whose musical patterns change as the undersea environment is populated.
As the Worm Turns – a worm-like shape follows a finger motion through a virtual space perturbed by other finger gestures. Worm and space disturbances are sonified.
Analogous – a visual and analog improvisation between Silvia Matheus (analog synthesizer), Bill Hsu (computer graphics), and myself (analog synthesizer).
