SIXTYHURTS PRESENTS THREE
TION ALBUM RELEASE CELEBRATION
FEATURING:
TION (pronounced “shun”) is the framework for New Music lifers Kyle Bruckmann and Zachary James Watkins’ dyadic electro-acoustic High Vibration Resonance activities.
In the midst of recent years’ creative projects landing Zachary in the role of composer and Kyle as interpreter (Splinter Reeds, Black Triad), the two began collaborative duo explorations of interactive feedback tone generation at West Oakland’s Santo Recording. The resulting methodology – documented on the new album Phantom Physics | UNCLCKD on Sixtyhurts – employs Bruckmann’s reeds (oboe/English horn) and Watkins’ square waves and multiple
speaker configurations in service of maximalist spatio-textural modulation.

Ava Koohbor works between sculpture and instrument, poetry and circuitry, memory and electronics, Tehran and San Francisco. Her practice explores sound as a field of relations, where listening, making, and material continually reorganize one another.
Xopher Davidson (aka Antimatter) and Jacob Felix Heule are two Bay Area experimental musicians and audio engineers who first met at Asphodel Records/Recombinant Media Labs over twenty years ago, and only recently started collaborating. Their shared professional background runs through the music: both bring the same obsessive attention to sonic detail to their instruments that drives their work as engineers—an exploration into the material of sound itself.
Electronics and percussion converge on drones and harmonics that can’t be attributed to either one—imitating each other, becoming indistinguishable, the boundary between the two instruments dissolved. As sirr-ecords puts it: “crossing rawness with complexity… circling extreme flows of electricity or quiet unique drawings, they move not only by some random experimental awareness but rather through a long time cutting edge exploration of timbres in flux. From minimal frequency shaping to exploring the extremes, they transform the listening space, bringing utter freedom and reversing and puzzling processes to develop a living sonorous document in an evolving, organic and expansive language.”
“…massive, raw, disruptive, and shapeshifting presence and expansive language.” – Eyal Hareuveni, Percorsi Musicali
