The string quartet was established as a chamber ensemble in the 18th century and has enjoyed continuous attention by generations of composers due to the range, blend, agility, and beauty offered by the ensemble. Nine Bay Area composers join forces to present new string quartets in a cycle of two concerts presented in June and October 2020. Come listen to the music of Mark Alfenito, Allan Crossman, Monica Chew, Jacob E Goodman, Kyle Hovatter, Steve Mobia, Martha Stoddard, Davide Verotta, and Shawne Workman in a showcase of the Bay Area composition scene performed by the acclaimed Friction String Quartet and guest artists.
