John Bischoff will perform a set of solo electronic works that incorporate a custom analog circuit of his own design. As he activates the circuit, the resulting sounds are analyzed in real-time and used to inform an extended computer-synthesis response. A binding together of the analog and digital realms is the result, the unique characteristics of each medium crossbred and counterpoised in time to form a hybrid sensibility. Works include Circuit Combine, Visibility Study, and Surface Effect.
Vorticella are inverted bell-shaped ciliates. We are a complex sound generating entity bearing a strong resemblance to the Vorticella, and we perform on a variety of conventional and homemade instruments as well as found objects. Krys Bobrowski, Erin Espeland, Brenda Hutchinson and Karen Stackpole improvise with French horn, kelp horns, gongs, metal bits, wooden bits, exotic sound makers, household objects, cello, voice, Gliss Glass and the Long Tube.
