Saws, rasps, gouges, turntables, tapes, concrete, voice: these are just a handful of the objects, instruments and bodies that cellist Helen Newby will interact with in “Dialogues”. This program presents six different sonic conservations, each of which examines the wide range of sounds and gestures that can occur therein. “Dialogues” features premieres by composers Danny Clay and Adam Hirsch, both based in the Bay Area, and NYC-based David Bird. Other works include Malin Bång’s “Arching”, Cat Lamb’s “as two…or three…or four…”, and Thomas Meadowcroft’s “Cello Pieces / A Vanity Press”.
