C4NM @ Fridays in the Grove
The Living Earth Show
6:45 PM at the Main Grove, Bruns Amphitheater, Orinda
additional dates: August 8 & September 12
This summer, the Center for New Music partners with Cal Shakes’ The Triangle Lab to present three special concerts at Fridays in the Grove: performances by the Bay Area’s best poets, musicians, comics, and more.
The first show will feature The Living Earth Show, electric guitarist Travis Andrews and percussionist Andy Meyerson, one of the Bay Area’s most versatile and virtuosic contemporary chamber groups. They’ll perform works by Timo Andres and Chris Cerrone.
The Living Earth Show has been called “a vanguard effort of new chamber music” and “energetically provocative” by The San Francisco Examiner, “a much sought-after presence on the indie classical scene” by The San Francisco Classical Voice, and “a fully distorted perpetual motion of awesome” by I Care If You Listen. Memorizing every work it performs, The Living Earth Show thrives on pushing the boundaries of technical and artistic possibility in its presentation of commissioned electro-acoustic chamber music.
Fridays in the Grove are included with your ticket to Comedy of Errors. You can purchase tickets here. Center for New Music fans can get a 20% discount to tickets on the night of the performance with the code GROVE.
You can also get cheaper tickets by using the Under 30 discount to get $20 off (follow the instructions on the ticket page) or calling the CalShakes box office on the day of the show between noon and 2 PM.
If you wish to attend the Grove performance without staying for the production, you may ask for a “grounds pass” at the on-site box office. There is free parking at the theater as well as a free BART shuttle from the Orinda BART station, leaving every 20 minutes beginning two hours before the show.
