Guitarist Alex Heigl, saxophonist Nora Free, and bassist Chris Trinidad are joined by drummer Ian McKenzie for a one-off night of improvised music. Heigl’s ambient soundscapes and droning fingerpicked guitar provides a widescreen jumping-off point for Free’s Pharoah Sanders-influenced saxophone and Trinidad’s rock-solid basslines. Anchored by McKenzie’s minimalist drums, the quartet will wind its way through a set of on-the-spot composition splitting the different between modal grooves and ambient textures.
