Robert Dick will bring his array of flutes, from the piccolo to the giant F bass for his first San Francisco solo concert in over a decade. Known worldwide for his rampantly inventive approach and mastery of extended techniques such as multiphonics and circular breathing, Robert’s performances have been compared to the experience of hearing a full orchestra.
The program will include his invention, the Glissando Headjoint®, the whammy bar for the flute. Using his multiple mic system, Robert creates a vividly detailed and tactile sound plane.
Robert will play both composed and improvised music and the concert will have several West Coast premieres, including the performance art/music hybrid “Babylonish Gabble.”
When we started to open our ears and minds in the 60s, Robert was there. Its light years later, and he’s continuously accelerated throughout. Experience the dimensions of his passionate journey.
