raising lilith is an interdisciplinary performance art duo that explores and provokes people’s relationships to their bodies, boundaries, and gender roles and obligations. Pianist Anne Rainwater and mixed-media artist Victoria Welling present “Chapter 2: Lost” at the Center for New Music. This evening’s show will feature Anne and Victoria collectively performing Frederic Rzewski’s “Lost and Found,” a somber piece written originally for body percussionist that expresses the sentiments of a male soldier recently returned from the Vietnam War. Themes of masculinity, ego-centricity, and control provide an excellent jumping-off point for exploring ideas of the female gaze and gender-flipping.
