Special benefit performance for Hapa Marrow Match (http://www.hapamarrowmatch.org)

The Center for New Music presents a special performance of HALF-BREED, the touring music/poetry performance piece by San Francisco recording artist PC Muñoz. Muñoz will be joined by Los Angeles-based improvising violinist/composer Yvette Holzwarth for this performance.

HALF-BREED is an artistic exploration of mixed-race identity delivered via electronic soundscapes, live instrumentation, and spoken poetry. It debuted at The Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis and has since been performed in New York, San José, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

Proceeds from this engagement will benefit Hapa Marrow Match, an Oakland based non-profit. Because of their unique HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) makeup, multiracial individuals with blood disease have an extremely small chance of finding a perfectly matched bone marrow donor. Hapa Marrow Match addresses this issue in the Asian-Pacific Islander community through strategic registry drives. Registry information and kits will be available throughout the whole evening.
