Scott Walton is a bassist and pianist whose music negotiates the terrain between jazz, free improvisation, and the classical avant-garde. Tim Perkis is a well-known figure in the worlds of improvised and electronic music. Their piano/electronics improvisation project is captured on their new CD “Improvisations” on the pfMentum label (pfmentum.com) and further work in the same vein will be explored in tonight’s concert.
Thea Farhadian is a violinist/composer who comes from the background of new contemporary music and works primarily with free improvisation, and live electronic processing. The pieces on her solo CD, Tectonic Shifts, on the Creative Sources label (creativesourcesrec.com) integrate the interaction of the violin with electronics, altering the sound in real time through the software program Max/MSP.
